He is a former Assistant Director of CIA for South and Central Asia and has held senior positions within CIA in Washington and in the field, including in the war zones. Dave has a proven track record of leading large teams, building partnerships across the U.S. government and with allies, and delivering results in high-pressure situations. Dave is a Cipher Brief expert and frequently writes and comments on global terrorism, Afghanistan, great power competition, the gray zone, and emerging global issues. Ryan Lewis is a Partner at SRI Ventures, investing in early-stage deep tech companies, particularly in AI and dual-use technologies. He co-chairs the Defense Technology Council for Global Corporate Venture, mentors at NYU's Endless Frontier Labs, and is a Senior Associate at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS).
